Public Notice on Water Quality Issued
Posted Date:
The City has been requested to issue a public notice regarding the public water system.
The City routinely monitors for the presence of drinking water contaminants. The results from a sample collected for the 1st and 2nd quarter of 2016 shows the system exceeded the standard or Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for Total Triahlomethanes (TTHM).  The standard for TTHM is 80 ug/L.  The average level of TTHM over the last year for 1st quarter of 2016 was 88.95 ug/L and 83.98 ug/L for 2nd quarter of 2016.

You do not need to use an alternative water supply.  However, if you have specific health concerns, consult your doctor.

This is not an immediate risk.  If it had been, you would have been notified immediately.  However, some people who drink water containing TTHM in excess of the MCL over many years may have an increased risk of getting cancer.

The City is working on a change in the treatment process that should help in the short run and also working on a long term answer. The City is anticipating to resolve the problem within 1 to 2 years (estimated time frame).

Attached above is a copy of the Public Notice on Water Quality Report that was mailed with the October utility bills.
